Understanding the User

5 foundational interviews revealed that simplistic and clear design is most important when users are searching for a tutorial.

User Story

As a dance enthusiast without any prior experience, I want to learn how to dance a specific type of dance without too much chaos and knowledge required, so that I can find the video tutorial I am looking for easily and don’t get discouraged or annoyed while searching for the right tutorial.

Define the Problem

Mona is a beginner dance enthusiast who needs an organized and filterable dance tutorial platform because she wants to learn how to dance without being discouraged and annoyed.

Digital Wireframes

Usability Study

I conducted interviews with 5 participants after the wireframes to determine the steps taken by the learner to find and start a dance tutorial Identify potential pain points and improvement opportunities.

Navigation

It was observed that 3 out of 5 participants were frustrated that they could not navigate back and forth between pages.

This means that the necessary navigation buttons are not given or visible.

Therefore, an insight is: allow the user to navigate back and forth in each page.

Familiarity

It was observed that 5 out of 5 participants found the video page intuitive.

This means that the users associated the interface with similar interfaces.

Therefore, an insight is: keep the inspiration from established and familiar website.

Takeaways

  1. Simplicity is key. All users will find their way if navigation and puspose of buttons is clearly marked.
  2. Ideation processes allow the flow of all ideas eventually leading to a separation of good ideas from bad ones. Ideation steps and wireframes are not steps to be skipped.
